We stopped off at the Artisan Cookhouse whilst touring County Down and it proved to be a good move. Had Calamari - really melt in your mouth with a great spicy coating and an avocado accompaniment to start. I then had a steak sandwich on sourdough - a generous portion with fabulous chips and my wife the minced steak burger which was also excellent. Friendly service added to a great experience. The dinner menu also looked really tempting and we will return next time we are in this part of the country.
Unbelievable! I decided to venture to Strangford for an early evening meal. I parked outside the Lobster, read the menu, then popped across the road to the Cuan and compared their menu and decided to search out the Artisan which was 100yds up the road. I am really glad I did. I immediately saw a difference. This was a restaurant not a pub. There was a problem, they didn’t have a liquor licence, but a simple walk to an off licence and back with a bottle of wine and a £3 corkage fee, was a great solution. I ordered from the early bird menu, which was as good as the later menu but cheaper.
The service was great, and the food was fantastic, so much so I had three courses. And when the bill came to £27 I gave them £40 as it was worth every penny. The wine cost me another £9. But that would have been £20 restaurant prices. Totally recommend this place.
A Little Gem! We were celebrating a First Communion and there were 5 adults and 3 children in the group. Management was happy to display FC Banner and string of helium balloons. We were welcomed by an efficient and friendly staff who went about their business in a most professional way. The food was beautifully presented and tasted superb. Between us, we had a variety of beef, chicken and fish dishes. I sampled a little bit of each and was impressed by all of them. The menu was reasonably priced and good value for money. I would certainly look forward to returning to this restaurant and would recommend it wholeheartedly to others. Well done to all the staff!
